Highlights of Discover the Serene Beauty of Kokhe Danda Trek

  • Unparalleled Views: Experience unparalleled views of towering peaks, including a rare chance to witness three eight-thousanders from a single spot.
  • Varied Landscapes: Beyond the snow-capped peaks, Kokhe Danda presents a tapestry of rolling hills and lush landscapes stretching across the horizon.
  • Pokhara's Panorama: On clear days, enjoy a distant view of Pokhara and the tranquil Phewa Lake, adding a picturesque layer to your trek.

Perched at an elevation of 3303 meters, Kokhe Danda is not just the highest point in the Parbat district but also a pristine vantage point offering more breathtaking views than the popular Poonhill. Situated right across from Mohare Danda, this hidden gem provides a panoramic spectacle of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Mansiri, and Langtang ranges, including three majestic eight-thousanders.

Unlike the bustling trails to Poonhill, Kokhe Danda offers a tranquil trekking experience, as it's a relatively new trail that doesn't require bookings in advance. Accommodations en route include homestays and lodges, offering a genuine taste of local hospitality.

Journey Through the Annapurna Dhaulagiri Region

Just a stone's throw away from Pokhara, Kokhe Danda lies nestled in the magnificent Annapurna Dhaulagiri region. Its unique position offers an exclusive viewpoint, revealing the grandeur of Dhaulagiri more intimately than from Mohare Danda. This trek is an adventurer's delight, offering a blend of natural splendor and cultural immersion.

Immersive Trekking Experience

Kokhe Danda Trek stands out for its serenity, offering a peaceful journey without the crowds typical of more established trails. No trekking permits are required, allowing for an easy and accessible adventure. For those wishing to linger, a lodge at Kokhe Danda's summit offers cozy accommodations with mesmerizing views of the Annapurna range.

Extend Your Adventure

Positioned between Poon Hill and Mohare Danda, Kokhe Danda allows for an extended exploration, connecting with other popular treks in the region. The circuit trail design offers flexibility, catering to various durations and starting points, ensuring a personalized trekking experience.

Navigating the New Trail

While the Kokhe Danda Trek promises a unique adventure, it's wise to be prepared for its nascent infrastructure. A local guide is recommended to navigate the less-marked trails, ensuring a safe and enriching journey. Homestays provide a rustic and authentic experience, allowing you to connect with the local culture and lifestyle.

Day-wise Itinerary
Detailed itinerary for 6 Days Discover the Serene Beauty of Kokhe Danda Trek

On the first day, you’ll take a drive from Pokhara to reach Kushma. From here, you have two options:

Option 1: Begin your hike from a spot called Ambot, just before reaching Kushma. This route will take you on a hike through Durlung, leading to Haljure. The hike usually takes around 6 to 7 hours, and you’ll get to enjoy the serene landscapes along the way.

Option 2: Alternatively, you can take a jeep from Kushma up to Banau. From Banau, it’s just a 45-minute hike to Haljure, which is a shorter and more relaxed option if you prefer.

Haljure offers spectacular panoramic views stretching from the Dhaulagiri range all the way to Langtang. It’s also a great spot to witness both sunrise and sunset, providing breathtaking sights to start and end the day.

  • Transport: Flight / Private Vehicle
  • Accomodation: Hotel/Lodge

On the second day, you will start on a shorter hike from Haljure to Sarga Camping and Homestay. This hike usually takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and goes through the lovely village of Lespar. Lespar is a charming, traditional village nestled at the base of Hampal Danda, surrounded by beautiful scenery that reflects the unique culture and natural beauty of the region.

  • Time: 2 hours trekking
  • Accomodation: Homestay
  • Meals included: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

On the third day, you’ll have two options for your hike:

  • Option 1: Continue from Sarga and trek towards Kokhe Danda, passing through Jaljala and Mohare Danda. This route usually takes about 5 hours of hiking, offering varied landscapes and scenic views.
  • Option 2: If you’re running short on time, you can opt to hike directly from Haljure to Kokhe Danda. This route is about a 7-hour hike and skips the stop at Sarga, allowing you to reach Kokhe Danda a bit quicker.
  • Time: 5-6 hours trekking
  • Accomodation: Teahouse
  • Meals included: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

You will hike from Kokhe Danda to Jhillibarang, passing through Taaprang. You can descend from Taaprang to Ulleri in about 2 hours. However, it is important to note that entering Ulleri means entering the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP) region. As a result, you will need to pay the ACAP permit fees before exiting Birethanti.

  • Time: 5-6 hours Trekking
  • Accomodation: Hotel/Lodge
  • Meals included: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

On your final day, you will take a scenic route from Jhillibarang down to Nayapul via Bhuka Deurali. This hike typically takes around 4 to 5 hours. Interestingly, the trail from Jhillibarang to Nayapul runs parallel to the main route from Nayapul to Tikhedhunga but on the opposite side of the river. By choosing this route, you avoid entering the ACAP region, which means you will not have to pay any additional permit fees.

  • Time: 5 hours trek
  • Accomodation: Hotel/Lodge
  • Meals included: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Nayapul is a small village, typically a starting point for trekking routes for the Annapurna region. Start your day early here for the best light and fewer crowds on the road. Drive through lush terraced hillsides, with views of small mountain villages nestled in the hills. After 1.5-2 hours of driving, we will reach Pokhara
